Yoga bolsters

Yoga bolsters should be firm to allow a comfortable and productive yoga exercise. The use of bolsters in breathing techniques helps support the long muscles on both sides of the spine. This allows the muscles to fully relax. As your chest extends, your breathing becomes slower and deeper.

Yoga bolsters support your body while performing yoga exercises, so you can hold postures longer and keep them in good shape. There are three types of yoga bolsters, the rectangular Pratyak, the round Ekagrata and the small round Pranayama. Each of these yoga bolster forms has its own advantage and is used for different postures. 

The Yogitri rectangular bolsters have flat sides at the top, sides and bottom. This shape provides a stable balance because this bolster will not roll. They provide good back support for lying positions. This provides comfort to the spine and the hips when you perform yoga postures that put pressure on your back. Rectangular bolsters can also be used in poses where your body folds forward. 

The round yoga bolsters from Bodhi and Yogitri have a cylindrical shape. Round bolsters are very good for back support and yoga postures that open the chest with a curvature in the back, such as the supported back posture. Compared with the rectangular bolsters, the round bolster is also good for supporting limbs, such as under bent knees.
